Watching the Match - Jul 2011

A portrait I did of Ivan after taking some pointers from The Artist's Complete Guide to Drawing the Head by William L Maughan.

Pastel Pencil on A4 toned paper.

Ivan on the Sofa - 2011

A fairly quick, light sketch with an HB pencil.  I liked the shape of the sofa around him and the weight distribution across the cushions.  If I were sketching this again, I'd leave out the crumpled sweater on the sofa in front of him.

Ivan Researching - 2010

Here he is again completely absorbed in research.

Ivan - Sep 2009

One of my few colour portraits.  This was done in pastel (conte crayon) on 10"x8" sanded pastel card.

Ivan Asleep - Jul 2009

A great drawing opportunity even when he's asleep. :)  His face has such a wonderful bone structure.

Ivan Sitting on the Bed - Mar 2009

What a great model he is.  He sat patiently on the bed like this watching tv while I sat with my sketch book practising my life drawing skills.

Ivan Using the Computer - Feb 2009

Thought I'd start with some of my older sketches.  I did this one evening while Ivan was using the computer.  It's one of those portraits that seemed to flow so easily...one of my favourites as it's just how he looks when focused on the computer. :))
